An Image is a rectangular picture, usually from an image file. It supports transparency, tinting, and other features.
Table of Contents
Image
The file that this image displays. You can replace the image with a different file by dragging the new file from the project to this box.
Tint
A color to tint the image. Colors with an alpha component will make the image transparent.
Blending
The blending mode of the image. The default is “Alpha”. Blend modes supported are:
- Opaque - treat alpha pixels as opaque, no transparency
- Alpha - treat pixels with alpha as semi-transparent.
- Additive - blend this image with the background by adding colors together.
Nine Slice
If selected, treat this image as a nine slice. Nine slices are useful for boxes with borders that can be resized to any size without their corners scaling. See this reference for more information.
Left Slice
When using Nine Slice
, specifies the size of the left border (that is, the distance from the left side of the image to the edge of the nine slice border).
Right Slice
When using Nine Slice
, specifies the size of the right border (that is, the distance from the right side of the image to the edge of the nine slice border).
Top Slice
When using Nine Slice
, specifies the size of the top border (that is, the distance from the top of the image to the edge of the nine slice border).
Bottom Slice
When using Nine Slice
, specifies the size of the bottom border (that is, the distance from the bottom of the image to the edge of the nine slice border).
Custom Mapping
If selected, this option allows the UV mapping of the image to be changed. This can be used for effects such as a scrolling, repeating background.
Offset X and Y
A value (between 0 and 1) to offset the image in the X or Y axis within its frame. An Offset X value of 0.5, for example, would offset the image by half its width.
Scale X and Y
A value by which to multiply the scale of the image within its frame. For example, a value of 2 would stretch an image to twice its size within its frame.
Remove Background
Story Machine can automatically remove background colors from an image. Click the Remove Background button, then click on a color to remove it, and all connected sections of similar color, from the scene. Click and drag on a color to increase the threshold for removal. Click outside of the image or hit the Escape key to exit the background removal mode.
